A child porch pirate was seen in shocking footage making off with a large box that was almost the size of him.

In a new clip shared online, the young boy can be seen making off with the packagefrom what is said to be a home in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles.

A black Dodge Charger can be seen driving past the address and turning into an intersection, before stopping.

The youth left the rear of the blacked-out vehicle and quickly approached the house, before slowing down as he neared the front gate.

He then quickly cut across the driveway of the gated house and picked up a large box that was left at the side of the gate.

The surveillance footage then cut to him quickly running back across the road and to the car.

As he approached the vehicle the trunk opened and he placed the package inside, before quickly closing it and fleeing in the vehicle.

It remains unclear exactly where and when the footage was captured but it was recently shared to social media on Wednesday.

Online commenters have been left disgusted by the clip, highlighting the youngsters age as a problem

One person said: 'Parents, this is not how you spend spring break with your children, shame on you!'

Another posted: 'Wow! Parents of the year right there. Gotta teach them young.'

'Teaching their kids how to steal at a young age, and then the left go 'oh but they're just kids'.

'The kid needs to be in juvie, that will teach him a lesson his parents aren't teaching him', another commented.

DailyMail.com has approached the Los Angeles Police Department for comment on the clip.

Porch pirates have boomed in recent years and strike on doorsteps shortly after delivery couriers.

In findings published last year by Security.org, they said that porch pirates stole 58 million packages over 12 months across the country.

That amounted to $12 billion in stolen merchandise, according to their research, with a quarter of Americans having fallen victim to it.

In a survey of 11,163 American adults by the company, 6 percent of Californians had package stole in the last three months of 2024, with a median value of $83.

Delivery services now offer pickup services like Amazon Lockers, and have in-app notifications that typically require a picture upload of the delivery to indicate where the package was left.
